Fellow-American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery
Diplomate-American Board of Otolaryngology
Past President of the Texas Association of Otolaryngology

Dr. Ronald Morton is a board-certified Otolaryngologist, a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/ Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Morton also belongs to the Texas Association of Otolaryngology, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2004-2012 and was President from 2006-2007. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association and Gregg/Upshur County Medical Society. Born in South Texas and raised as the youngest of four children, Dr. Morton came to the field of medicine with a genuine desire to serve others.“Our faith teaches us a selfless devotion, and my field allows me to concentrate on that every day. It is truly a blessing.”

After completing his medical school training in 1985 at UTMB, Galveston, where he was honored as “Who’s Who in Medical Professionals” and on the National Dean’s list for academic excellence, Dr. Morton completed his general surgical internship in 1986 and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery residency in 1990. At UTMB-Galveston, he trained under Byron J. Bailey, MD, FACS, one of the most respected specialists in the country.

In 1990, Dr. Morton began practicing in Paris, Texas until he moved to Longview in 1997. While caring for all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat, Dr. Morton’s practice is most clearly recognized for its excellence in the care of sinus and inner ear disorders. He is known by many as the “dizzy doctor”, having the most complete state-of-the-art facilities in the area for the evaluation and treatment of all forms of dizziness. He has lectured the area emergency physicians on the emergent evaluation of the dizzy patient and stands on call to assist them each day with the treatment of these patients.

Most recently, Dr. Morton’s practice has been recognized as a Center of Excellence for the performance of Balloon Sinus Dilation, the only such center in East Texas. He was informed of this honor just before attending the National Open Forum in New York City in July 2014, and he has maintained that designation ever since. Dr. Morton and his staff not only perform this procedure regularly in their offices but have been asked to consult with outside physicians to assist in their learning the latest techniques in the treatment of sinusitis. He has carried out live broadcast satellite TV cases to educate other doctors throughout the country. “This is a very distinct honor for me and my office staff. It reflects our dedication and recognized results in the treatment of patients suffering from recurring acute and chronic sinusitis.” Dr. Morton serves as a consultant for Entellus Medical, Inc., a leading sinus surgical company.

Dr. Morton is excited about the future of his profession. “Even with all of the uncertainty in health care, we continue to strive for the highest quality, most compassionate care we can give to our patients. We are thrilled to be providing outcome-based measurements for the continuing evaluation of the quality of the care we deliver. As technology advances, we are poised to move with it to continue to make it available to as many patients as we can.”

Dr. Morton and his wife Carolyn have been married for 33 years, raised nine children of their own, and have three grandchildren. They are proud to call Longview their home.
